Hi there
I'm Debbie Zec, founder and surf coach of Dominical Surf School. I've had the blessing to be born and raised in Dominical Beach, truly a magical place which I immensely love!
I'm 33 years old and I have been in the ocean bodyboarding and surfing for as long as I can remember.
I started working for other companies when I was 14 years old and since then I have taught over 9000 people. When I turned 17, I decided that by opening my own surf school would be the best way to extend my knowledge to anyone interested in learning about surfing.
IN THE MEANTIME, I HAVE ALSO COMPETED NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS. GAINING GREAT INSIGHT IN PERFORMANCE COACHING AND SURF TRAINING, WHICH WE APPLY INTO ALL OF OUR SURF PROGRAMS.

National Sub-Champion Female Junior category: Year 2006-2007-2008.

Costa Rica’s top 3 Open Female category during 2007-2008-2009.

Central America’s top 2 at Playa Venao International, Panama – 2009.

Central America’s top 5 general ranking -Women Division – 2009.

World Surfing Games by the ISA (International Surfing Association): Ranked 30th in 2006 in Praia de Mata, Portugal and ranked 33rd in Hossegor, France 2007
In 2009 I decided to leave surf competitions and to dedicate more time to take important steps forward, not as a professional surfer but as a business owner.
Since then I have been focused on my surf school and doing some world traveling during off season, discovering new and exciting places where I can learn from, and who knows, even host new surf camps!
THANKS TO ALL YOUR SUPPORT AND CHOOSING MY COMPANY, DOMINICAL SURF SCHOOL HAS BEEN GROWING RAPIDLY IN THE LAST YEARS. IT BECAME IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO TEACH EVERYBODY, AND THAT'S WHY I WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE YOU TO MY GREAT TEAM OF SURF INSTRUCTORS!
They are highly qualified surfers and certified instructors by the ISA (International Surfing Association) as well as national Lifeguards certified by Asociación Nacional de Guardavidas.
The surf school and surf camp is running mainly in Dominical beach and we offer our services around different areas of the country upon request.
I have also been collaborating with other surf organizations and running international surf retreats at paradisiac locations! I'm very open to discuss collaboration opportunities all around the world. If you are interested into a collab please don't be shy and reach out ;)

Debbie is a little bomb of energy, you may find her running around town, coaching, surfing, talking on the phone, responding to your emails, dancing, laughing or out and about.... but always up to something!

Multifunctional Talent
Martu is just amazing... She's got so many talents, they wouldn't fit here if we try to count them. She is our surf coach, water photographer and soul surfer. Her smile is contagious, and she has a heart of gold!
Roberto Barrantes

Rob and Debbie have been surfing and competing together since 15 years ago! Robert is a very technical coach, with an eye for detail and a ridiculously talented surfer! He's very funny but tends to be a bit shy in the beginning, get to know him better and you'll have a friend for life.
Mario Godinez

Mario is one of our other multi talents, he is actually a machine playing American Football and now he is learning about this whole new world of surfing! Mario came from San Isidro to help us run the office when Rodrigo is out teaching and resting.
Gonza Sotelo

Gonza is a kind soul who is obsess with surfing and teaching others to join his surf mafia! Talk about sharing the stoke...this guy is all surf stoke!
Besides being an amazing instructor, he also does our surf reparations.
